Junctional ectopic tachycardia as an AVNRT catheter ablation complication in children
نویسندگان
چکیده
Junctional ectopic tachycardia (JET) occurs postoperatively or after catheter ablation in the region of Koch's triangle. The post-ablation incidence JET reported medical literature is very low. We report case a 13-year-old female patient who underwent slow pathway for atrioventricular node reentrant and subsequently developed JET. An accelerated automatic focus was found junction area due to radiofrequency applications. Treatment with metoprolol, ivabradine, propafenone, amiodarone ineffective stopping arrhythmia. However, resolved within 30 days without other antiarrhythmic drugs.

Junctional Ectopic Tachycardia
Junctional ectopic tachycardia (JET) often occurs in the setting of surgery for congenital heart disease [1]. A congenital variety of JET not related to any surgery has also been described [2]. While post surgical JET has a mortality upto 14% [1], congenital JET has a mortality upto 34% [3]. A case of JET associated with myocarditis, has also been reported [4]. Electrocardiographic diagnosis of...

PURPOSE To report the management of junctional ectopic tachycardia after cardiac surgery in an infant. Postoperatively, the patient suffered profound cardiac decompensation secondary to the accelerated rhythm and required extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for haemodynamic support. CLINICAL FEATURES A 14-day-old, 3.5 kg boy exhibited junctional ectopic tachycardia after cardiopulmonar...

A functional discordance of conductive and refractile properties within atrionodal and AV nodal tissues is thought to be the basis for AV nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT). Contemporary therapy aimed at curing AVNRT without materially damaging normal AV conduction began with surgical AV node modification.' Catheter based techniques with DC shocks and later with radiofrequency energy have been...

Additional comment: There has been a misinterpretation of our study in the accompanying editorial [3]. Authors have commented “The authors advised mothers to expose their newborns to sunshine for a duration of six months, when the association between duration and timing of the sunshine exposure and serum 25(OH)D was analyzed.” [3]. Our study was purely an observational study, and no advice rega...

PURPOSE In this literature review, we try to give anesthesiologists a better understanding about Junctional Ectopic Tachycardia (JET), a narrow complex tachycardia that frequently occurs during and after surgery for congenital heart disease. SOURCE Information was found in the databases of Pubmed, Science Direct, Medline and the Cochrane Library, by using the mesh terms "Tachycardia, Ectopic ...
